National Recreational Trails Program (NRTP): Apply for Two Years' Funding

In September, 2007, the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) provided NRTP funds for both 2007 and 2008. This graphic shows how this one-time event is being implemented.

Reason for the change:
Each September, when RCO approves the listing of NRTP projects for funding, RCO staff sometimes has only a few days to assemble evidence of this action for review by the Federal Highways Administration before rights to the funds lapse. That is, in any year, if for some reason the materials were not to reach the federal government by October 1, all NRTP grant funds for the year would be lost. Approving funding for 2007 and 2008 in the year 2007 has put us months ahead of the federal deadline.
