Beaches
- Need an accessible route of travel, 44 inches wide minimum, to basic elements and spaces, such as picnic tables or shaded resting areas, and into the water for swimming, if provided. It is preferred to have the route 60 inches wide because less than that requires passing space, turnaround, or “T” intersections.
- The accessible beach route shall coincide with the general pedestrian beach, whenever possible, and the surface shall be firm and stable.
- Temporary accessible beach routes are allowed where permanent ones cannot be built.
- Beach replenishment or nourishment may not trigger accessibility requirements.
