Blueberry Park Development
Bremerton will use this grant to develop a 7-acre park with parking, restrooms, a tree grove, playground, sheltered picnic area, bike racks, a drinking fountain, interpretive signs and pathways. An historical patch of blueberry shrubs will be enhanced. Kitsap Master Gardeners and Bremerton Urban Gardeners are actively involved and the Kitsap Tree and Shoreline Association will help maintain the trees and plants. Bremerton will contribute $201,510 in cash, labor, materials and donations of labor and materials. This was the top ranked project of three competing for funding by the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Low Impact Development techniques were implemented throughout the project, and included; permeable pavement, rain gardens, a green roof and ecoturf.
